Our school is a secondary school (Regonale Schule) named after Heinrich Heine, one of the most significant German poets of the 19th century.

We share our building with a primary school (Grundschule). While our school is for children aged 10 to 16  (Years 5 to 10), the primary school starts at the age of six, offering four years of basic education.

The Heinrich Heine School has 190 students and 20 teachers,  a secretary, a caretaker and three cleaning ladies. The school is led by the Headmistress supported by Headmistress Assistant.

There are 27 classrooms including a room for Art lessons, a Physics room, a Science room, a Computer room, a staff-room and a spacious kitchen. We have got a special room where students can do their homework in the afternoon, another one to spend hours free from lessons, and a number of smaller rooms with books on various subiects where teachers and students alike can work.

We have compulsory and optional subjects.  The compulsory subjects are: German, English, Maths, P.E, Art, Biology, Geography, Music, Technology, Physics, History and Chemistry. The optional subjects are: Russian, French, the History Project, Ship Modelling etc. There are also additional lessons where pupils can get targeted support from their teachers to help with their studies. Calendars, posters, pictures and plants make our classrooms nice and cheerful.  There is also a gym, a track and other outdoor facilities.  Important school events are held in our Hall.  Overlooking a pine forest, it seats 150 people and boasts modern stage equipment. Music lessons take place here.
