Our school is a secondary school (Regonale Schule) named after Heinrich Heine, one of the most significant German poets of the 19th century.

We share our building with a primary school (Grundschule). While our school is for children aged 10 to 16  (Years 5 to 10), the primary school starts at the age of six, offering four years of basic education.

 The Heinrich Heine School has 190 students and 20 teachers,  a secretary, a caretaker and three cleaning ladies. The school is led by the Headmistress supported by Headmistress Assistant.

There are 27 classrooms including a room for Art lessons, a Physics room, a Science room, a Computer room, a staff-room and a spacious kitchen. We have got a special room where students can do their homework in the afternoon, another one to spend hours free from lessons, and a number of smaller rooms with books on various subiects where teachers and students alike can work.

We have compulsory and optional subjects.  The compulsory subjects are: German, English, Maths, P.E, Art, Biology, Geography, Music, Technology, Physics, History and Chemistry. The optional subjects are: Russian, French, the History Project, Ship Modelling etc. There are also additional lessons where pupils can get targeted support from their teachers to help with their studies. All classrooms are equipped with an overhead projector, some have a DVD or a VHS player, a TV or an interactive smartboard. Calendars, posters, pictures and plants make our classrooms nice and cheerful.  There is also a gym, a track and other outdoor facilities.  Important school events are held in our Hall.  Overlooking a pine forest, it seats 150 people and boasts modern stage equipment. Music lessons take place here. Adjoinung the Hall is our cafeteria where pupils and staff have lunch.

We have many clubs and other extra-curricular activities: Volleyball, Cooking Club, Video Production etc.  Through the E-mail club, led by the English teacher, the students have established partnerships with schools across the world including in Australia, France, Poland, Russia, the UK and the USA.

“ Grundschule” starts at the age of six, offering four years of basic education. “Regionale Schule” is for children aged 10 to 16 (Years 5 to 10).

Heinrich-Heine-School has about 360 students and 35 teachers, 2 social workers, 2 secretaries, a caretaker and three cleaning ladies. The school is led by the Headmistress, Mrs. Reißmann, supported by our Assistants Headmistress – Mrs. Schult, Mrs. Dartsch and Mrs. Lukanek.

Welcome_1We have 29 classrooms in our school, including an Art room, Physics and Science room, a Computer Lab, a staff-room and a spacious kitchen. We have got a special room, where students can do their homework after school or spend their free periods and a number of smaller rooms (each containing a variety of books on a range of subjects), where teachers and students alike can work. Here, we also offer additional lessons, where pupils can receive extra support from their teachers to help them with their studies.

All of our classrooms are well equipped with CD players, TVs and interactive smart boards. Calendars, posters, pictures and plants make our classrooms bright and cheerful. Outside, we have a gym, a race track and other outdoor facilities, including an outdoor classroom for in the summer! All of our important school events are held in our Main Hall. Overlooking a pine forest, it seats 150 people and contains modern stage equipment.  Our music lessons also take place in this Main Hall. Adjoining the Main Hall is our cafeteria, where pupils and staff can buy and eat their lunch.

Our school has both compulsory and optional subjects. Our optional subjects take place in the afternoon and all pupils from Year 7 must take part in at least 2 subjects a week.

Die Einschulung 2024

Den Schulanfang 2024/2025 eröffnete wieder einmal die Einschulung der neuen Erstklässlerinnen und Erstklässler. Mit großem Stolz nahmen die Kinder ihre liebevoll gestalteten Schultüten entgegen und die ein oder andere Mama verdrückte sich ein (Freuden-)Tränchen.

Zu den feierlichen Zeremonien am Samstag, 31. August 2024 im Haus des Gastes Karlshagen waren Familien und Freunde eingeladen, ihre Sprösslinge auf dem Weg ins Schulleben zu begleiten. Das Grundschulteam der Heinrich-Heine-Schule hatte die Räumlichkeiten zuvor bunt geschmückt und ein kindgerechtes, kurzweiliges Programm mit Schülerinnen und Schülern sowie dem Chor der Grundschule einstudiert.

Nach der Eröffnungsrede unserer Schulleiterin, Frau Reißmann, übergab die Klassenleiterin Frau Ulrich (Klasse 1a) „ihren“ Kindern die Zuckertüten und nahm sie somit in die Schulgemeinschaft auf. Es war für alle ein aufregender Vormittag!
